Dr. Blazek graduated from the University of Minnesota Dental Hygiene program in 1981, worked as a hygienist full time and attended evening classes to complete dental school prerequisites. She graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1988, completed a General Practice Residency at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Minneapolis in 1989. Dr. Blazek was an associate for three years, while also teaching part time in the Crown and Bridge Department at the dental school and became the owner when her uncle retired in 1992. Dr. Blazek has had the good fortune of hiring three associates who attended the Pankey Institute. One eventually became her partner and another purchased the remaining 50% of the practice several years ago, as she transitioned to a part time senior associate.

Dr. Blazek has retired from private practice, however, she continues to work part-time at the Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic, teach at the Pankey Institute, mentor colleagues and do some occasional Forensic Dentistry. She is starting her 40th year in dentistry and still loves it! Dr. Blazek is married to Dr. Larry Hetzel, who is a retired L.D. Pankey Alumni as well. They have three daughters and three grandchildren. Hobbies include gardening, photography and traveling the world.
