Masters’ Week is a unique learning experience each and every year where we bring together a group of talented speakers to share on a range of topics. Our four day program will feature 4 phenomenal clinicians and educators presenting four incredible topics. In classic Pankey style the experience, education and community will make this a program not to be missed. Master’s Week has a special place in the hearts and minds of many Pankey Alumni. Meet The Presenters

Gary DeWood, DDS – Topic TBA
A native of Toledo, Ohio, Gary earned his D.D.S. from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland in 1980, attended the University of Florida Facial Pain Center Curriculum from 1992 through 1995, and in 2004 earned a Master of Science degree at The University of Toledo College of Medicine. He left full-time private practice in 2003 to serve as clinical director at The Pankey Institute, a position he held until 2008 when he joined Frank Spear in Seattle as President of The Seattle Institute. As a founding member of Spear Education, formed by the merger of The Scottsdale Center and The Seattle Institute, he relocated to Arizona in 2009 as Executive Vice-President and served in many roles over the next 15 years. Spear Education became internationally recognized and was a leader in exceptional dental continuing education. The company was acquired by a venture capital firm which chose to eliminate Gary’s position in 2023. Today he maintains a private practice in Glendale, Arizona, Desert Sun Smiles, with his practice partner Dr. Lee Ann Brady. He teaches in numerous workshops at The Pankey Institute and lectures extensively to Study Clubs, professional organizations, and at dental meetings around the US. He is also a principal in Global Diagnosis Education, a bi-monthly online “study club” for all dentists looking to be confused at a higher level. Gary holds or has held appointments as: Assistant Professor, The University of Toledo College of Medicine Associate Professor, The University of Tennessee College of Dentistry Clinical Director, The Pankey Institute Director of Marketing and Publications, The Pankey Institute President, The Seattle Institute Executive VP for Curriculum and Clinical Education, Spear Education Adjunct Clinical Professor, Arizona School of Oral and Dental Health Executive VP, Spear Practice Solutions Executive VP, Spear Education Director of Essentials Education, The Pankey Institute.

Lee Ann Brady, DMD – Topic TBA
Dr. Lee Ann Brady joined The Pankey Institute as their first female resident faculty member and was quickly promoted to Clinical Director. Dr. Brady is a privately practicing dentist and nationally recognized educator, lecturer and author. With an extensive history in leadership, she is currently Director of Education of the Pankey Institute. Dr. Brady has also developed a vast library of online instruction at leeannbrady.com and restorativenation.com. She practices in Glendale Arizona, is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry, Inside Dentistry and Dentaltown Magazine.

Wael Garine, DDS – Topic TBA
Dr. Garine graduated from Cairo University School of Dentistry in Egypt. Dr. Garine joined the Dental School at the University of Western Ontario, London Ontario, where he earned his dental degree.

Graduating first in his class, Dr. Garine received the Dr. Gerald Z. Wright Award for excellence. He then joined the Eastman Dental Center at University of Rochester, in NY where he spent three years specializing in the area of Prosthodontics.

Dr. Garine spent the following year teaching at the University of Rochester and completed the Implant Fellowship, for which, he received the Dr. Gerald N. Graser Fellowship Award.

Dr. Garine’s research in implant dentistry has received several awards and was published in the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants.

Dr. Garine is the Director of the Seaside Study Club (local chapter of the Seattle Study Club in Jupiter, FL), a clinical assistant professor at the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY and an adjunct clinical assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma.

George Mandelaris, DDS, MS, FACD, FICD – Topic TBA
Dr. Mandelaris attended the University of Michigan from undergraduate through dental school. He completed a post-graduate residency program at the University of Louisville, School of Dentistry, where he obtained a certificate in the speciality of Periodontology as well as a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Oral Biology. Dr. Mandelaris is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and is a Fellow in both the American and International College of Dentists.

Dr Mandelaris is a two-time recipient of the American Academy of Periodontology’s (AAP) Clinical Research Award (2017 & 2021), an award given to the most outstanding scientific article with direct clinical relevance in Periodontics. A nationally recognized expert, he was appointed by AAP to co-chair the 2017 Best Evidence Consensus Workshop on the use of CBCT Imaging in Periodontics as well as co-author the academy’s guidelines. In 2018, he was recognized with American Academy of Periodontology’s Special Citation Award. He has published over 40 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and has authored eight chapters in seven different textbooks used worldwide on subjects related to computer guided implantology, CT/CBCT diagnostics and surgically facilitated orthodontic therapy (SFOT). He is the editor and lead author of the book: Surgically Facilitated Orthodontic Therapy: An Interdisciplinary Approach (Springer). Dr. Mandelaris is the 2018 recipient of The Saul Schluger Memorial Award for Clinical Excellence in Diagnosis and Treatment Planning. He is in private practice at Periodontal Medicine & Surgical Specialists in Glenview and Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois. He limits his practice to Periodontology, Dental Implant Surgery, Bone Reconstruction and Tissue Engineering Surgery.
