Course Description:
This course is designed for general dentists who do not necessarily have any orthodontic training or knowledge. It focuses on helping practitioners to develop a holistic and proactive approach to the supervision of the developing dentition (most often the remit of the GDP) and will educate the participants on treatment options available for children under the age of 12. It will address signs and symptoms in young children that may warrant investigation, parent education and/ or referral. The relevance of airway and sleep will also be discussed.
Learning Objectives :
- Develop an awareness of the importance of assessing young children for potential orthodontic issues from birth.
- Understand what ‘early treatment’ in orthodontic terms means, why it is important and what the results are.
- Raise an awareness of a more holistic approach to the dental care of children.
