Pankey Institute Dental Continuing Education Alumni Membership header

Our students are the heart of the Institute. To each course they bring unending curiosity, a sense of openness to new ideas, intelligence and caring for the craft and practice of dentistry.

We do not mold them but instead bring out their innate skill and caring. We are proud of them as students, as dentists and as human beings.

To honor our alumni, we'll be spotlighting some of our best and brightest who have become Pankey Scholars. Check back periodically for new spotlights.

Dianna Lenick

Dr. Lenick graduated from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1983. Following graduation she completed a General Practice Residency at the same university. After practicing as an associate dentist in the Charleston area, she established full time practice at 1311 Quarrier St. in 1988.

Dr. Lenick is a member of the ADA and the AACD and her practice is a general
practice, predominately serving adults. She has been elected to the Board of Directors at the Pankey Institute and serves as Visiting Faculty. She is married to Dr. John W. Vargo, and has two children.

Dr. Lenick took her first Continuum course in 1994 and ten years later completed Pankey Scholar requirements.  When asked why she went through the Scholar program, Dr. Lenick says, “I attempted the Scholar process because Dr. Becker asked me to. I have been asked to do other things by Dr. Becker, Dr. Green or Mr. Sager over the years and have always grown from the experiences they have challenged me with. This time was no different and the experience was challenging but very beneficial.”

Dr. Lenick’s extensive post-graduate courses include:

• L.D. Pankey Institute Continuum

• Peter E. Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Studies

• Dr. Mark Piper’s Advanced Concepts in Tempromandibular Joint Dysfunction

• LSU Esthetic Continuum

On a personal level, Dr. Lenick says she has had little time for extracurricular activities. “I felt that working full time building the kind of practice that I wanted and raising two children was energy consuming enough,” she says. “Now that my first child is 19 and has completed his first year of college and my second child
is becoming a senior in high school, my life is changing. I am trying to increase my exercise time and I'm not sure what else I might do.”

Dr. Lenick’s commitment to optimal oral health care has earned her recognition as a model of the Pankey Philosophy.  Her website can be viewed at www.diannalenickdds.com.  She may be contacted at dlenick@aol.com.
