Continuing dental education student scholar

We admire all our students, from those just beginning their path along the Continuum to those who've been coming to the Institute for quality continuing dental education twenty years or more.

But our Pankey Scholars are something special. After completing the Institute's full Continuum, they go through a rigorous process that is individualized and challenges each to demonstrate an exceptional level of practice.

Becoming a Pankey Scholar

After completing the Continuum, you will be invited to display a portfolio of your excellent dentistry to the Scholar Panel as well as demonstrate your understanding of your practice financial situation and prudent managerial decision-making. Staff issues and application of philosophical principles will be revealed through group discussions.

A second session will follow the first by nine months, to allow time for participants to complete individualized growth assignments based on the discovery of the first session.

These assignments will ensure that all completing the process are highly accomplished in the principles of comprehensive patient care, occlusion, interdisciplinary care and restorative dentistry, as taught in the Continuum.

Participants are expected to demonstrate excellent intra-oral photography (slide or digital) and case documentation.

A small group of dentists (limited to six only) go through the process at the same time.

Prerequisites

Completion of the most senior level Continuum
Licensed dentist in good standing
Participation in the Business System Development Program
Written Vision and Mission Statements
Written Position Papers with all specialists and lab technicians you utilize
Documented portfolio of comprehensively treated patients

The End Result
The process of stretching to demonstrate mastery of the Institute's teachings is a self-discovery process. Participants mature, gain confidence, and ensure they have reached the level of understanding and expertise to which the Institute is capable of leading them.

The journey of professional development culminating in this achievement creates growth as a dental leader and teacher. Mentoring patients, staff, and colleagues to higher levels of health and fulfillment will come naturally.

Although completion of the program will not credit you with a degree utilized by other academic institutions, your mature attitude and commitment will register with those knowledgeable about The Pankey Institute, who understand the value of this self-expression.
